Bombing Survivor Walks With Prosthetic Legs For First Time
BOSTON (CBS) --- One of the Boston Marathon bombing survivors walked on her new prosthetic legs for the first time yesterday.
The video was posted on the Celeste & Sydney Corcoran Support Page, This was the fist time Corcoran has walked in nearly 7 months.
"Day one of Celeste walking on her new prosthetics. Strong, steady, and tremendous balance! Unbelievable!! So happy to be part of such an incredible process!" the caption says.
Corcoran, of Lowell, lost both legs in the bombing.
The prosthetic legs had to be fitted differently as one leg was amputated above the knee and the other below the knee.
According to the page, the above knee prosthetic has a computerized knee to help Corcoran bend.
Celeste was with her daughter 18-year-old Sydney, at the finish line when the bombs went off.
Sydney was hit with shrapnel and suffered severe arterial injuries. She is now attending Merrimack College.
