Body Recovered After Suspected Drowning In New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (CBS/AP) — The body of a 24-year-old man has been pulled from the New Bedford waterfront after what officials are calling an accidental drowning.
Officials say workers at a nearby seafood dealer noticed the body at about 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.
The D.A. identified the victim as Christopher Martin from New Bedford.
A spokesman for the Bristol district attorney's office said police began searching for the man after his girlfriend reported him missing about four hours before his body was found.
New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang said the situation is being treated as a terrible accident.
The DA's spokesman said police are looking for security camera footage that might have captured what happened.
