Bobby Brown To Perform At Mohegan Sun After Houston's Funeral
BOSTON (CBS/AP) - Bobby Brown will perform at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut on Saturday after attending Whitney Houston's funeral in New Jersey.
The late singer's publicist, Kristen Foster, confirmed Thursday that Houston's ex-husband was invited to the funeral in Newark.
Brown will perform with R&B group New Edition at the casino, which was formed in Roxbury.
Other celebrities invited to Houston's funeral were her co-star in "The Bodyguard," Kevin Costner; and Oprah Winfrey.
Houston's longtime musical mentor, Clive Davis, will speak at the funeral. The eulogy will be given by gospel singer and longtime family friend Marvin Winans.
Winans was the pastor when Brown and Houston were married in 1992; the couple later divorced. They had one daughter together, 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown.
Organizers were getting the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark ready Thursday for the funeral. Drums and speakers, which were to be part of the musical service, were in the aisles.
Fans without invitations will be kept far away. Newark police say streets will be shut down for six square blocks around the church.
Hours after Houston died last Saturday, Brown performed with his group in Mississippi.
