1 Killed, 1 Hurt In Cigarette Boat Accident Near Boston Light
BOSTON (CBS) - One man was killed and another seriously injured in a boating accident off of Hull on Saturday.
According to State Police, a high-speed cigarette boat broke apart and flipped over in the water near Boston Light.
A second vessel arrived at the scene and a woman on board jumped into the water to help with the injured parties. Police say that woman may have known the two victims.
Both men were rushed to the Pemberton Pier Coast Guard station in Hull, where one was declared dead.
WBZ-TV's Jim Smith reports.
The other was later flown to a Boston hospital.
Investigators say it is still unknown what caused the high speed boat to break apart and flip but they believe it may have had something to do with another boat's wake.
Some witnesses said there may have been a boat race. That claim is also under investigation.
