Boa Constrictor Found In Athol Car
ATHOL (CBS) -- Local police received an unusual call Wednesday night: a large snake coiled inside the driver-side dash of a car in town.
When Athol Police officer Corey Brown found the car, he also found a female 7-foot-long Colombian boa constrictor in the vehicle. "First time, and hopefully the last time," Brown said of the experience to WBZ News Radio's Ben Parker.
The snake was barely visible, with most of the reptile firmly lodged behind the dashboard.
Pat Russell, an assistant animal control officer, was called to the scene and after the snake resisted extraction from the car, the snake enthusiast knew just what to do. She tickled the boa constrictor.
"She released herself," Russell said. "You want to get control of the head so you can get control of (the snake)."
