Bledsoe With Gresh & Zo: 'Dolphins Are Playing Pretty Good Football'
The Patriots are headed to Miami this weekend to take on the Dolphins for the first time this season and a win would lock up the division for New England.
Gresh and Zo discussed Sunday's game with former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe.
The last time the Patriots lost to the Dolphins it was at Miami in 2009. Since then the Patriots have handled business against the Phins, sweeping them each of the last two seasons.
But what could be problematic for the Pats as they head down to the Sunshine State this weekend?
"This year in particular the Dolphins are playing pretty good football," said Bledsoe. "They look like they're a team that's on the rise. The Patriots are going to have to play well. I mean if they play well they'll win the game, but they're going to have to play well to win it."
The guys also discussed how the weather could be an issue, as players aren't really used to playing in such warm weather this late in the season. Right now the forecast looks to be partly sunny, with a high near 79 and a 10-percent chance of showers.
The guys also got the former QB's thoughts on Miami's rookie quarterback, Ryan Tannehill.
In January, new Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin hired Tannehill's former college coach Mike Sherman to become their offensive coordinator. How much of an advantage is it to have his college system brought to him in the pros as a rookie?
"It just eliminates one factor that you have to adjust to as a rookie," said Bledsoe. "The hardest part of being a rookie quarterback in the NFL is you have to deal with so many different things; you're in a new place, you're with a new team, all of a sudden you step into the huddle with guys that are a lot older and a lot more experienced than you are. You're dealing with a lot of things and a new coaching staff. If you can eliminate one of those factors in terms of having to learn a new language, a new offense it just removes one factor for you."
Wrapping things up, the guys discussed the home stretch of games the Pats have coming up as the end to the regular season approaches. What does Bledsoe expect to see out of this Patriots team over the next five weeks?
