Bill Belichick Says Tom Brady's Absence Is 'Personal'
BOSTON (CBS) -- Tom Brady very rarely misses any time on the practice field, so Sunday's news that the quarterback had been excused from practice for two days caught the attention of many curious minds in New England.
But anyone hoping to learn more about the absence from head coach Bill Belichick on Monday was left feeling disappointed.
Belichick was asked to confirm if Brady's absence is indeed not injury-related.
"No, I don't comment on any personal situations," Belichick replied.
Considering Brady's missed both preseason games -- first due to memorial services of a family member, then due to an accident with scissors shortly before kickoff -- the coach was asked if Brady needs to get in some preseason snaps before taking his forced four-week suspension.
Belichick was equally non-committal to giving any answer.
"We'll just take it day to day, week to week," Belichick said.
Brady was reportedly excused from practice on Sunday and Monday, and is expected back on Tuesday, as the Patriots prepare for the all-important preseason game No. 3 on Friday at Carolina.
