Agent Refers To Bill Belichick As 'The Godfather' Of Coaching

BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has distinguished himself over the years for his team-first, business-first mentality. He'll cut players before they decline and rarely give a player any kind of discount or leeway in contract negotiations. He's not afraid to cut a high draft pick in favor of an undrafted free agent who is playing better. It's been one of the major reasons for the team's sustained success.
It's also a reason that agent Harold Lewis, who represents undrafted free agent signings V'Angelo Bentley and Cre'Von LeBlanc, compared Belichick to the likes of Don Vito Corleone when talking about why he always recommends the Patriots to his clients.
"It doesn't matter what round or what school you're from ... if you perform you will have a spot there," said agent Harold Lewis. "You also know that you're going to get top coaching in New England - you're getting coached by the godfather - and even if you get cut there's a greater chance you might get picked up from there than some other teams."
Now it's hard not to picture Belichick's office being a shadowy, claustrophobic little torture chamber. This summer, expect him to tell guys like Aaron Dobson (probably) that it's nothing personal, it's just business.
