Bill Belichick Talks Transition From Talib To Revis In New 'Do Your Job' Video
BOSTON (CBS) -- Bill Belichick almost never talks about individual players. Pretty much any reporter who asks a question about a specific player gets some variation of "It's the same for everybody" or "That's between me and the player." Future Hall-of-Fame cornerback Darrelle Revis was no exception - when it came to addressing the media, Revis was just another guy.
So while this clip from the Patriots' NFL Films documentary "Do Your Job" offers nothing earth-shattering from Belichick, he does open up a bit about the team's transition from Aqib Talib to Revis at the cornerback position and it's always interesting to hear him give his thoughts on players, in any context.
He basically says "We signed Revis because he was a free agent" and "If we kept Talib we wouldn't have signed Revis," which everyone in New England who was paying attention already knew. But hey, it's a refreshing change from "Everybody's doing their job every day." It's a peek inside Belichick's thought process as a GM, however microscopic it is.
The clip probably leads into more about Revis and the dominating presence he brought to the Patriots secondary, and how he differs from Talib as a player. You can see the rest when "Do Your Job" airs Wednesday, Sep. 9 on the NFL Network.
