Beverly Woman Finds Drunk Stranger In Her Home

BEVERLY (CBS) -- A Beverly woman still can't believe the surprise she woke up to this weekend. "I thought that my daughter came home and it was one of her friends on my couch," Kristin Paragios explained. "I thought nothing of it. So I called my daughter and asked the girl her name and my daughter was like, I don't know who that is."

Police say it was a 19-year-old from Danvers, who Paragios believes raised the screen and crawled in through a window. "That's where she came into my house," she said pointing to her kitchen window, which is accessible from her back deck.

And once inside, the intruder made herself at home. "She was snuggled up with my dog," she said. When she first spotted the girl, she was curled up on the couch. But before she got comfortable, Paragios says left a trail of evidence in the kitchen. "She had fun. She turned on my stove and left it on all night long. She left raw bacon everywhere, spaghetti sauce everywhere... hot dogs, ham, cheese and lettuce everywhere," she explained.

The fact that the gas oven, where Paragios stores pots and pans, was on for several hours is the most alarming part of all this. "My house could've burned down and yea, she was only charged with trespassing," she said. Beverly Police tell WBZ nothing was missing from the home. The 19 year-old, who appeared intoxicated and confused, also told officers she wasn't sure how she got into the house and went on to say she thought it was her friends home a couple of streets away.

Paragios is furious and wants more serious charges. "I was mad when I found out she was 19 and not 16. I thought she was one of my daughters friends. But when I found out she was an adult I was even more mad," she said.

We went by the suspect's home in Danvers, a family member said she was not at home and had no comment. All of this has given Paragios quite a tale to tell, especially at her business in Peabody. "I have a hair salon and it was the story of the day, let me tell you," she said.
