Tom Birarelli and his crew were trawling traps about 10 miles away from the Port of Beverly near Halfway Rock when he brought in the lobster around 1:30 p.m.
Birarelli says he's looking for a worthy home for the rare and colorful lobster. A research center in Nahant has asked about it, he says.
The lobsterman has yet to name the shellfish.
