Best Upcoming Pro Wrestling Shows Near Boston

Though it might not seem like it from the surface, Greater Boston is home to thousands of pro wrestling fans. In fact, pro wrestling mega star, John Cena, hails from the Massachusetts town of West Newbury! This popular, but still under the radar, community of wrestling fans is a high energy crowd of all ages that love to see their heroes in action live. Luckily, there are lots of upcoming matches happening across the region in the months to come. These events span all scales and price range so it is easy to find a pro wrestling show that appeals to you and your fellow fans.

After a long, three year hiatus, the WWE Smackdown is coming back to Connecticut. Mohegan Sun is slated to host this epic event which features some of the most famous names in professional wrestling including Massachusetts native John Cena. Some other headliners of the event include Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns,  Seth Rollins, AJ Styles and Bray Wyatt. Other superstars that will appear in the show are Randy Orton ("The Miz"), Maryse Dolphe Ziggler, Demon Kane, Alberto Del Rio and Becky Lynch.  With so many epic names, this is by far the most high profile pro wrestling event coming to New England in the next few months.

For a lower profile and more affordable but still fun way to enjoy pro wrestling, check out Ring of Honor wrestling. Ring of Honor wrestling features a different style of fighting than WWE. Ring of Honor is known for focus on athleticism and sport rather than show. Instead of over the top glitz and glamour, Ring of Honor highlights a fusion of mixed martial arts and traditional wrestling. According to the organization, "Ring of Honor has brought back the meaning of the word wrestling in pro-wrestling and provides the dedicated fan-base with an exciting and electric show, full of athleticism, intensity and passion." The All-Star Extravaganza of Ring of Honor will take place over two days in Lowell in late September and early October. The show is not to be missed by fight fans!

For pro wrestling fans that are unable to attend the WWE Smackdown at Mohegan Sun in late August, there will be another chance to see some of WWE's best names. The WWE Live Holiday tour is making a stop in Providence, Rhode Island, which is just an hour train ride from downtown Boston. This show, taking place at the Dunkin Donuts Center, is conveniently timed on the Saturday of Thanksgiving break, which means this is a great opportunity to plan a family outing or get a big high school group back together to go watch the show. Thanksgiving is always about reuniting with people from home and celebrating, and now there is something to do that weekend besides shop!

This is the perfect event for young pro wrestling fans. Edward A. LeLacheur Park, best known as the home of the Lowell Spinners baseball team, has great programming for kids and 'A Night of Grand Slams' is no exception. The headlining match ups of the evening will include: "The Firebrand" Brian Fury vs. Cody Rhodes and Brick Mastone & Rhyno vs. Cam Zagami & Robbie E. But that isn't all, more match ups for 'A Night of Grand Slams' are yet to be announced. Head to the Woburn Elks #908 to see this low key but incredibly fun wrestling show. This semi-pro wrestling event is part of Chaotic Wreslting's ongoing "Summer Chaos" event series. Match ups for the Woburn event have not been announced, so stay tuned to their website for updated information and to buy tickets.
