Best Boston Shops For Shoes

When you're watching your budget, shoes can be an easier way to add a bit of glam to your wardrobe. If you stalk stores—er—wait long enough, your favorite pairs are likely to come down in price. And with those sales, your outfit will get that lift it needs. You don't have to sacrifice quality to find great deals. The following shops have been compiled for you with this in mind.

TJ Maxx

Marshalls Plaza
260 Needham St
Newton, MA 02464
617-527-0401

Fresh Pond Shopping Center
198 Alewife Pkwy
Cambridge, MA 02138
617-492-8500
www.tjmaxx.com

Hands down, the Needham and Cambridge (Fresh Pond) branches are the best of the local TJ Maxx stores. If you can, head over to those stores. If not, go for a quickie at any of their many locations. They carry a variety of brand name and designer shoes at a price that will work for most budgets. And don't forget, lay-away is an option.

Saks Fifth Avenue

786 Boylston St.
Boston, Mass. 02199
617.262.8500
www.saksfifthavenue.com

The sales at Saks are something to wait for. More importantly, the shoes are pretty awesome. You'll find high-end brands galore here. If you don't find your size, don't worry, the sales team will be happy to call another Saks for you.

Berk's

50 JFK St.
Cambridge, MA 02138
617-492-9511
www.berkshoes.com

The Tannery

39 Brattle St
Cambridge, MA 02138
617-491-0810

711 Boylston St
Boston, MA 02215
617-267-5500
www.thetannery.com

The Harvard Square location (closer to Church Street) is the best, although the Boylston Street (corner of Exeter) store has a wider selection. They carry some designers that you won't find at the higher-end department stores. On top of that, they have a wonderful collection of boots that will have you oohing and awing. What's more, the men's section---well, it makes me want to be a man. They carry a variety of shoes for work and play for men. Be warned though, the staff at the Tannery don't have a reputation for being particularly helpful.

DSW

www.dsw.com

You have to be in the right frame of mind to go to DSW. They have a very large selection of shoes for men and women. These are not investment shoes, but they certainly are well-priced shoes that you will be able to wear for a few seasons to come.
