Bergeron With Gresh & Zo: 'Doesn't Really Matter Who You're Put Out There With'
The Boston Bruins are in D.C. getting ready for Game 4 against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night.
The B's own a 2-1 series lead, and were given Tuesday off before hitting the practice ice again on Wednesday.
Bruins center Patrice Bergeron took some time to talk with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh and Zo on Wednesday, and discussed the increasing physicality of the Bruins-Capitals series.
The Capitals played a very defensive game through the first two contests of this series, but things really opened up in the Monday night in Boston's 4-3 win. Is Bergeron noticing anything out the Caps that they weren't doing through the regular season?
"I think they're doing a great job boxing us out and finding way to battle against us. I think we just have to go out there and play our game."
The top two lines weren't really productive through the first two games, which led to Claude Julien switching things up, putting Bergeron with Milan Lucic and Rich Peverley, and bumping David Krecji down with Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand. How in-tune are the players with the moves?
"We're fine with that; it doesn't really matter to us to be honest with you," said Bergeron. "I've said it all along -- even last year and this year -- it doesn't matter who you play with on this team. We're so deep, we're a balanced offense and it doesn't really matter who you're put out there with."
It's hard not to notice the play of defenseman Dennis Seidenberg so far this series. Seidenberg has been able to shut down Alex Ovechkin, keeping the dynamic offensive star to just one goal and two assists over the first three games.
"He's been great for us all series since Game 1 and we expect the same thing for the next game," Bergeron said of #44. "He's the type of guy who always wants to get better and always want to be there for his teammates."
Gresh & Zo asked Bergeron about Thursday night's Game 4, and what the Caps might look to do to gain some momentum back. What are some of the keys the B's will focus on to try and leave Washington with a pair of wins?
"I think it's about us playing our game and making sure we, like you said, the start for us I think is going to be as huge as it is for them obviously."
Plus, does this run feel like last year's at all?
