Bergeron, Lucic, Marchand Invited To Team Canada Orientation Camp
BOSTON (CBS) -- NHL players will be playing Olympic hockey in Sochi next winter, and several Bruins are in the running to play for Team Canada.
Hockey Canada on Monday invited 47 players to orientation camp, with Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand all on the list for forwards.
Of the three, only Bergeron has played in the Olympics for Team Canada in the past, as he played in 2010 when Canada beat the U.S. to win gold. Bergeron, who turned 28 this week, had just one assist in seven games, averaging 6:27 of ice time per game.
Lucic, 25, was invited to Canada's orientation camp prior to the 2010 Olympics.
Two members of the Bruins who definitely will be a part of Team Canada are head coach Claude Julien and general manager Peter Chiarelli. Julien will be an assistant coach for Mike Babcock, while Chiarelli will be a part of the management team, led by executive director Steve Yzerman.
The orientation camp will take place Aug. 25-28. Bruins' training camp begins Sept. 11.
