Ben Affleck: 'I'm Not Going To Get Into Speculation About My Political Future'
BOSTON (CBS) - Now that Sen. John Kerry has been nominated to be the next Secretary of State, there has been all sorts of speculation about who may run in a special election if Kerry is confirmed.
On CBS's Face The Nation on Sunday, the actor/director and Cambridge native Ben Affleck was asked whether he's interested.
Affleck was on the show to speak about the humanitarian crisis in eastern Congo and his work with Eastern Congo Initiative. He also spoke about his new movie.
"I'm not one to get into conjecture. I do have a great fondness and admiration for the political process in this country. It's a big deal for me to come down here and be on your show that I've watched so much. But I'm not going to get into speculation about my political future," Affleck said.
Affleck said he's happy being involved in politics from the outside, at the moment.
Ted Kennedy Junior is also considering a run.
The 51-year-old Conn. resident has been getting calls from his late father's colleagues urging him to run in the anticipated special election.
