Beltre Goes Deep Twice, Red Sox Sweep Rays
[photogallerylink id=22621 align=right]Adrian Beltre homered twice and David Ortiz went deep yet again to lead the surging Boston Red Sox to an 11-3 victory and three-game sweep of the baseball's-best Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night.
Beltre matched a career high with six RBIs and finished a double shy of the cycle after his ninth-inning triple put the game out of reach. Ortiz homered for the sixth time in his last 11 games and ninth time this month.
John Lackey (5-3) allowed two runs over 6 1-3 innings, pitching his best with runners in scoring position. The victory was the eighth in nine games for the Red Sox.
Beltre hit a solo homer off Matt Garza (5-3) in the second inning, and his three-run shot off the Tampa Bay starter made it 4-1 in the third.
