Arrest Made In Robbery Of Belmont Savings Bank In Watertown
WATERTOWN (CBS) -- A man accused of robbing a bank in Watertown Friday morning is behind bars.
Boston police arrested 25-year-old Richard Bonet of Worcester Friday evening. Officers say it appeared he was trying to break into a Roxbury home. Bonet fit the description of the Watertown bank robber and police found a large amount of cash on him. He is expected to be charged with the robbery once witnesses are able to positively identify him.The robbery unfolded at about 10:15 a.m. when police say Bonet went into the Belmont Savings Bank on Mount Auburn Street and gave a teller a note demanding money. He also told the teller he had a bomb in his bag and it would go off if he was not given any money.

The robber was given an undisclosed amount of money from the teller's drawer, left the bag behind, and got away. Police believe he may have had a car waiting for him behind the bank.

State police sent in a robot to determine what was in the bag. They say it was a children's fishing tackle box.
Authorities describe the suspect as being a white man in his early 20s, between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and he was wearing a heavy black jacket with a hood. There is surveillance video of the suspect in the bank, but authorities have not been able to look at that video yet.
