Bedard On Gronk's Injury: "He'll Be Good Enough"
The Patriots held their first practice on Thursday as they prepare for the Super Bowl.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski was the only player to miss practice due to an ankle injury he suffered in the AFC Championship win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe was down at the Senior Bowl and spoke with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich about who he liked in Super Bowl XLVI, and more importantly, Gronk's injury.
Gronkowski left the AFC Championship game in the third quarter after his ankle bent awkwardly while being tackled by Bernard Pollard. Luckily the injury did not sideline Gronk for long as he managed to return to the game in the fourth quarter. How will he be come game day?
"I know his ankle injury is, it's a pretty big deal. It's not just a regular turn of the ankle."
"I think it's going to be an issue, there's the chance that he might need to deal with it when the seasons over."
"I think he's going to be about 75 to 80-percent. Is that good enough for Gronk? Certainly. Will he be quite as effective? I don't think so, but I think he'll be good enough."
Will the fact that Gronkowski won't be 100 percent take anything away from the Patriots passing game?
"I don't think it's going to be a huge issue, but of course it's going to be talked about ad nauseam."
