Beckett Thrown Out At First From Right Field
BOSTON (CBS) - Josh Beckett is still getting used to hitting in the National League.
He also needs to get used to that 90-foot run from home to first.
On Thursday night, Beckett was thrown out by Carlos Beltran on what should have been a lead-off single in the bottom of the third inning against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Beckett hit a sharp liner to right and actually showed a bit of hustle out of the box. But it wasn't fast enough, as Beltran quickly tossed to first for the 9-3 put out.
Famed Dodgers play-by-play announcer Vin Scully reacted by saying "I haven't seen that in a long, long time."
Beckett was 0-for-2 at the plate Thursday night, striking out in his other at-bat. On the mound, the right-hander went 5.1 innings for LA, allowing just one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven, getting a no-decision in the 2-1 loss.
Since being traded from Boston to the Dodgers, Beckett is 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA in four starts. He is 0-for-9 with six strikeouts at the plate.
The Dodgers now trail the Braves and Cardinals by two games in the NL Wild Card race.
