Bean Sprout Salmonella Outbreak Sickens Four N.H. Residents
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire health officials say four residents have been affected by a Salmonella outbreak in the Northeast linked to bean sprouts from a Brooklyn, New York, company.
The state Department of Health and Human Services said Saturday that the bean sprouts were consumed in restaurants.
So far 63 people have become sick in 10 states. The four New Hampshire residents were not hospitalized.
Officials say the company — Wonton Foods, Inc. — is cooperating with public health and agriculture officials and has voluntarily agreed to stop the production and sale of bean sprouts while efforts are made to prevent Salmonella contamination.
