BC Eagles Talk NCAA Championship On Sports Final
BOSTON (CBS) – Fresh off their fifth NCAA Championship in school history, the Boston College hockey team stopped by WBZ-TV's Sports Final on Sunday night to show off their new hardware.
Eagles captain Tommy Cross, goaltender Parker Milner and head coach Jerry York joined Dan Roche on Sports Final, after beating Ferris State 4-1 on Saturday for their 19th straight win and third NCAA Championship since 2008.
For the Eagles, they just took this season one game at a time.
"The analogy was The Masters," York said he told his team before Saturday's championship game. "This is like going to the 18th tee box Sunday afternoon with a chance to win a major trophy. The idea was one swing at a time; we really concentrated with the first five minutes of the game and then moved on."

"The big thing for us was taking it one period, one shift, one game at a time," said Milner, who stopped 27 shots Saturday night en route to being named the 2012 Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player. "Coach stressed that you can't worry about a streak or anything; you don't win that many games, you win one at a time. That and the energy, just our practices were so much fun every day. We're having fun, the coaches are having fun. Those two things got us to where we are."
"We had a group that, in the locker room and on the ice, just every time we were together we had a ton of energy," said Cross, the Eagles' senior captain. "It was obvious that we loved playing together and being around each other, especially competing on a big stage. Going after a trophy, and especially Saturday night, knowing our season was going to end and having a chance to end it on a positive, or a negative note, the energy was off the charts and it was exciting to be part of a great group."

The Eagles will now have a rolling rally of their own at the Heights on Tuesday. For a senior class that went 110-42-1 over their four years at the Heights, it will be their last moment as a BC Eagle.
"It's an honor and a privilege to be part of the program; as older guys to contribute to the legacy and string of successful years," said Cross. "To bring a trophy back to the heights was really important to this group."
