Barry Melrose: Bruins Power Play An 'Energy Zapper'
BOSTON (CBS) – There have been many ideas on how to fix the Bruins abysmal power play during the playoffs.
Put in Tyler Seguin. Put Zdeno Chara in front of the net. SHOOT THE PUCK!
Former NHL coach and current ESPN analyst Barry Melrose has a different idea. Kind of.
"I don't think I'd take the penalty," Melrose joked with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh and Zolak on Wednesday.

"I would just get it simple," Melrose continued. "For a couple games they worked on it and you could see it getting better. They were moving it quicker, doing things fast. But it's awful right now, it's atrocious."
The Bruins are 2-for-19 on the power play this series, and just 4-for-56 in the playoffs.

"I would get it back to being simple; I would get it into the zone. I would set it up, one or two quick passes and a shot. Put Chara and Lucic in front of the net…go from behind the net to in front of the net and just shoot it."
"Right now it's an energy zapper," said Melrose. "Everything is going your way, you get a power play, 20 seconds later the people are booing you. You lose all the energy in the building and you zap your team."
Melrose picked the Lightning to win Game 6.
