Ballot Question Guide Includes Web Address For Spoof Pro-Medical Marijuana Site
BOSTON (CBS) - A web address printed in the state's 2012 ballot question information voters guide is actually a spoof site.
The Secretary of State's office told the State House News Service organizers of the "Vote No on Question 3" campaign against legalizing medical marijuana never registered the domain for votenoonquestion3.org.
But Scott Gacek of Boston did.
He bought it for just $15 and posted a fake site there, complete with fabricated stories like "Marijuana is the gateway drug to Twinkies."
Gacek, 35, told the News Service he never saw the voter guide and made his site "on a whim."
The "Vote No on Question 3" campaign has created a new web address and it's on the Secretary of State's website.
But the state will not reprint the guide, which went out to millions of Massachusetts residents.
