Baker To Release Details, Recommendations From Opioid Panel
BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker and Attorney General Healey are planning to announce the findings and recommendations of the governor's opioid working group.
Baker and Healey will be joined by Health and Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders at a press conference at the Statehouse on Monday to detail the report.
Baker named the panel in mid-February, and since then it's met with experts and interest groups to get a better understanding of opioids and addiction.
It also held four public hearing in different areas of the state to solicit feedback directly from the public.
A surge in overdoses claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people in the state last year.
This week the state also launched a public awareness campaign aimed at educating parents about the warning signs of opioid abuse.
