Bail Denied For Mass. State Trooper Accused Of Extortion
BOSTON (CBS)--No bail for a 20-year veteran Massachusetts state trooper who is waiting to be tried on extortion charges.
John Analetto is accused of threatening to kill a bookie he was working with in a gambling operation. Prosecutors say they have secret video tape of Analetto threatening the bookie, who was cooperating with the FBI.
On Friday, a judge ruled that Analetto poses a danger to the community. The trooper was arrested New Years Eve in his home town of Belmont.
Analetto's attorney maintains his client's threatening language was merely tough-guy talk after heavy drinking.
