Police were called to the Copley Marriott just after 3 a.m. and a found man sitting in the hallway on the 18th floor, suffering from a serious laceration to the neck.

According to the police report, there was blood in the hall and on the walls.

The victim, Randy Bowen of Worcester, was conscious and told officers he had been hit with a bottle by a friend, Robert Hernandez of Worcester.

Both had been attending a bachelor party in the hotel at the time.  Witnesses said the two men had been drinking heavily.

Hernandez, who is 5-feet-7 inches tall and weighs 300 pounds according to the police report, told investigators that it started when Bowen pushed him to the ground and he struck back with the bottle in self-defense.

Bowen was rushed to Tufts Medical Center, where he had surgery on the deep cut in his neck.

Police described the injuries as life-threatening.

Hernandez was bailed out over the weekend. He will likely be arraigned on Tuesday.
