Babe Ruth's Sudbury Home On The Market
BOSTON (CBS) - Baseballs fans have a chance at owning a piece of history.
But unlike an autographed baseball or game-worn jersey, this one's price tag may actually fit it's use.
The former Sudbury home of baseball great Babe Ruth is on the market, with a price tag just over $1.6 million.
Better known as "Home Plate Farm," Ruth purchased the house in 1922 and called it home until 1926. Built in 1800, the 13-room, 3.5 bathroom house has over 5,000 square feet of living space, and also comes with an adjacent barn. In all, it covers over two acres of land.

Perhaps the most intriguing amenity is not the library, the pool, or the third floor bonus room that was used to store Ruth memorabilia, but the cigar burns from Ruth himself on the pine floor in the "Gathering Room" on the first floor, according to the realtor.
Stories have the 558 Dutton Road residence as the site of many wild parties hosted by Ruth, including one where The Babe pushed a piano into Willis Pond, located close by.
That piano has never been found.

Ruth spent six of his 22 seasons with the Boston Red Sox, before being sold to the New York Yankees in 1920.
