RI-Based Cosmetic Company Abruptly Closes Due To Bullying

BARRINGTON, R.I. (CBS) --  You can take the Ava Anderson out of Ava Anderson Cosmetics.

The young woman from Rhode Island is getting out of the cosmetic business she created largely due to being bullied.

Ava Anderson, of Barrington, R.I., started a company focused on non-toxic makeup when she was only 14-years-old. The company's popularity increased with six years.

As Ava's fame increased, so did her exposure to bullies both online and in-person, her family says.

"We simply cannot see any possible happiness or peace for her future or our family being treated this way," the Anderson family said in a written statement. "We have tolerated it for years to build this company, but have lost the ability to battle and continue to sustain the barrage daily."

The Anderson family says the business will relaunch under a different name, and without the family's involvement.
