Autumn Chill...

A few brief showers passed through with the leading edge of a chilly October airmass this afternoon.  The colder air is gliding in on a stiff NW breeze which will stay fairly fresh and active tonight and therefore will prevent much of Eastern MA from receiving a frost.  But it won't prevent locals in Central and Western MA along with most of Northern NE from dipping down close to the freezing mark.  The National Weather Service has Frost and Freeze Advisories posted for late tonight and if you live in any of those prone areas I'd suggest bringing in potted plants and covering any plant that you'd like to keep growing this season.

We will go thru this again tomorrow night with frost possible only that time there is a much better chance for towns in Eastern MA to get frosty too...the lack of wind tomorrow night will set up ideal cooling conditions for all of New England and we are likely looking  at the coldest night of the season collectively.

The cold snap will be short-lived however, ridging in the center of the nation will bubble East and very warm temps exists beneath it...in fact 80s were seen all the way up into the Canadian Prairies today!  We will have highs near 80 thru the weekend and a record will be challenged on Sunday...82.
