Autopsy Could Determine If Body Found Is Missing Brown University Student
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The state medical examiner's office is trying to determine whether a man found dead in Providence is a Brown University student who went missing last month.
City police say members of the Brown crew team found the body Tuesday afternoon in the water off India Point Park. Authorities say the man appeared to be in his 20s and it's possible he may be 22-year-old Sunil Tripathi, the Brown student who disappeared March 15.
Relatives of the Bryn Mawr, Pa., native have searched the Providence area for him. The FBI and Brown students have also helped in the search.
Tripathi's family says he's on leave from the Ivy League school and was living with classmates in Providence.
The medical examiner's office is expected to perform an autopsy on the body Wednesday.
