Austin Rivers Heading To NBA
BOSTON (CBS) - Austin Rivers, the son of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, is heading to the NBA.
Rivers is leaving Duke for the NBA Draft after just one season, sources told CBSSports.com on Friday.
The 6-foot-3 swing man will sign with an agent and forgo his remaining eligibility after averaging 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists his freshman season.
Many NBA executives expect Rivers to be a lottery pick in June's draft, so it is unlikely his first pro coach will be his father.
Rivers scored 19 points in his final game as a Blue Devil, a 75-70 upset loss in the first round of the NCAA tournament to 15-seeded Lehigh.
