Arrest Made In 'Tagging' Of Vintage MBTA Trolleys
BOSTON (CBS) -- A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with vandalizing two vintage MBTA trolleys last year.
The damage was discovered in January 2014 at the Boylston Street station, where two historic trolleys on public display were tagged by graffiti vandals. The trolley hit with the most graffiti was built in the 1950s, police said.
Marc Meadowcroft, of Revere, was identified as graffiti vandal "CIGA" and arrested Tuesday, police said. He's set to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday on 14 counts of felony tagging.
Detectives worked for months to try and identify Meadowcroft, according to police.
"During that time the suspect continued his campaign of vandalism against the MBTA, private and city of Boston owned property," transit police said.
Police are still looking for 25-year-old Daniel Nelligan, for his alleged role in vandalizing the historic trolleys. An arrest warrant was issued for Nelligan in July.
