Arrest made in Jaewon Martin case
An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting on Jaewon Martin. Boston Police have arrested Timothy Hearns, 20, of Dorchester and charged him with killing Martin on May 8.
The victim was 14 years old, and family and friends described him as a young man with a bright future. He was at a city basketball court in Roxbury on a Saturday afternoon when he was shot.
Authorities say they don't plan to release a photograph of the defendant at this time due to the "ongoing nature of the investigation and, in particular, the extremely sensitive nature of eyewitness identifications developed thus far."
Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis says the arrest is "proof of our promise to the Martin family that we will do everything we can to secure justice of Jaewon."
