Arrest Made In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Boston
BOSTON (CBS) -- An arrest has been made in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed in Northeastern University graduate in November.
Colin Ratiu, 23, of Roslindale, is charged with motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident after causing death. Boston police arrested him Friday.
Andrew Prior, 24, of Boston and formerly of Syracuse, N.Y, was killed on November 14 when he was hit at the intersection of Tremont and Terrace Streets as he rode his scooter. His family says Prior had been visiting a friend and was just several hundred yards from his home.
WBZ-TV's Jim Smith reports.
Boston police say Ratiu was driving the SUV that hit Prior and he never stopped.
Authorities made several pleas to the public to find the vehicle that hit Prior, even releasing surveillance video of the SUV as it left the scene.
Police say the break came with a tip from someone close to Ratiu.
Prior's family says it's relief they thought would never come. His brother, John Prior, said the family was clinging to only bits of information.
"That feeling of not knowing the answers and thinking we'd have questions for the rest of our lives," he said.
John Prior asks how anyone could leave his brother for dead. "And then go on this long and live like that. How could you live with yourself," he said.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Doug Cope reports.

He adds that he wasn't sure this day would come. "To know there's been a break and to know they wouldn't make an arrest unless there was good information makes us feel good," he said.
Andrew Prior was a Northeastern University graduate who studied sign language. He was struck and killed just before starting a new job as an interpreter.
