Arrest Made In Chelsea Murders
CHELSEA (CBS) -- A man has been arrested in the murders of a man and woman in Chelsea earlier this month.
Maurice Morrison, 28, was held without bail at his arraignment at Chelsea District Court Thursday.
On May 13, 51-year-old Zouaoui Dani-Elkebir and 38-year-old Karima El-Hakim, both of Everett were found shot to death in their car.
The car was up against a commercial building and the driver's side window had been blown out.
The district attorney's office says Morrison had a prior relationship with El-Hakim.
Beginning at about 3 a.m. on the morning of the murders, prosecutors say, Morrison began sending text messages to Dani-Elkebir, who was El-Hakim's boyfriend and often had her in his car as he drove.
The two men communicated by text message for about 45 minutes in what investigators believe was a ruse to get Dani-Elkebir to pick Morrison up.
Eventually, prosecutors say, Dani-Elkebir did just that.
In the area of Parker Street and Crescent Avenue, Morrison shot both victims in the back of the head and fled.
The vehicle continued to roll down the street until it struck a building.
