Around The NFL And Soccer 6: Black Monday, Steelers Injuries

BOSTON (CBS) - Here are some of the items that are going on around this week in the NFL.

BLACK MONDAY

The day after the last regular season game in the NFL is always called "Black Monday." This is the day coaches get fired and there is movement in the upper managements positions in the NFL. This year was no different.

The head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Raheem Morris, was fired. His staff was also let go after the Bucs lost 10 straight games to end the season.

The head coach of the St. Louis Rams, Steve Spagnuolo, was fired after a 2-win season. Rams GM Billy Devaney was also let go.

The biggest surprise of the day was the firings in Indianapolis. Colts owner Jim Irsay fired GM Bill Polian and his son Chris. I guess someone had to get the blame for the Colts poor season.

"Just less than two years ago [we were] getting ready to play in the Super Bowl and go to Miami," Irsay said during a news conference on Monday. "Less than two years ago, they were cleaning off the confetti from the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium. It's been a very sharp decline. Even last year when we were getting ready to play our playoff game at 10-6 and division champs, if someone had said in this room, 'You're going to be having the No. 1 pick in the draft, and you're going to lose 13 games in a row and be 2-14' no one could have possibly believed it."

STEELERS INJURIES

The Pittsburgh Steelers are limping into the post season. Ben Roethlisberger's ankle is still bothering him. They are, right now, slowed at the quarterback position. Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark has a blood disorder and they are not sure if he will be able to travel to Denver for their playoff game. He is affected by the altitude in the mile high city.

Now, there is word that starting running back Rashard Mendenhall has a torn ACL and he will be out for the post season. The Steelers will now have to lean on Isaac Redman and undrafted free agent John Clay.

JACKSON REMORSEFUL

The Philadelphia Eagles finished their year strong and now they are getting encouraging words from one of their star players. DeSean Jackson has had a forgettable year. He's pouted and had a ton of people question his heart. On Monday, he said he was sorry and he'll accept the franchise tag if given to him.

"I can admit to certain things affecting me during the season. I just kind of want to apologize or whatever the case may be," Jackson said, via CSN Philly. "I probably could have handled it a little different, but now sitting here after the season's over, I can just say I was able to put it behind me and really just fight for my teammates. Fight for this organization -- just really knowing something good out of this situation was going to happen. I was able to finally get to that and just move forward. We'll see how it plays out."

SOCCER 6

Soccer 6 chimes in and 6 focuses on who's getting engaged. I guess Michael Jordan popped the question to his model girlfriend on Christmas day. Really Michael!!! Christmas day is so cliche'. I mean, his airness has more money and connections than anybody. This could have happened on a more special day. The ring now just seems like a Christmas gift. I am sure it's a very big gift but Santa would have liked that day for himself. Side note, 6 says Mike's girl is 16 years younger than him, to which I start humming the song, "I wanna be like Mike." You go baller.

6 also says LeBron James popped the question to his longtime girlfriend but this time it was on New Year's Eve. Okay, where is the originality with these guys. LeBron and his now-fiancee Savannah have been together since high school and they have two kids together. I guess it's about time, but I still need some creativity on the process. How about while he's dunking in a game, with one hand he's dunks and the other he holds up a ring. After the slam, he gets down on one knee and proposes. The cameras are always on LeBron and then we can say, we were all witnesses. When she says yes, he walks over to the scorers tables and does his chalk shower. Now that's a proposal.

Finally, 6 has news on the Kardashians. Soccer says there has been allegations that the Kardashian fashion lines are made in Asian sweatshops and those shops are using child labor. I knew something was fishy with that family. Now, the Kardashians have denied the report. That makes sense: they are not going to admit that they are abusing people to get their ugly clothing line out there in the stores. Then, they raise the price to their patrons so people are paying an arm and a leg for a pair of pants and it cost the Kardashians a basket of oranges.

Soccer says people have had it. There is a petition going around to boycott everything Kardashian. Right now, 6 says they have 300,000 names on the list. Hey, I would like to officially throw my name in the ring and try and spearhead this cause. Drop everything people, let's make 2012 Kardashian free. Stand behind me and chant "Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, keep out!!! Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, keep out!!" It's catchy.

Thanks for reading and thank you Soccer 6...
