Armed Robbery Of N.H. Pizza Shop Caught On Camera
DOVER, N.H. (CBS) -- The dough was flying as pizza reclaimed center stage at Papa Jay's in Dover Monday afternoon.
But forgetting Saturday night was hard.
"Personally I think they'll be caught," said owner Jason Parker.
He's talking about the pistol-wielding guy in a maroon hoodie who burst into the place, while a buddy in a black leather jacket dumped the cash register on the floor.
It took a few seconds for worker Savannah Norton to realize this wasn't some joke.
"One was holding a gun and pointing it at us saying he's going to shoot us," she said. "He was telling us we needed to give him the money. I just felt frozen."
But by the time the gunman had ordered everyone to the floor in the back, his buddy had the register open, and the pair was gone in 45 seconds, with two workers tagging along.
Norton and a co-worker were hoping to get a glimpse of the getaway car, or maybe even a license plate number. But the crooks fled on foot down the street and when they realized they were being followed -- things to an even more frightening turn.
"He turned with the gun and fired back at us," Norton told WBZ-TV. "And we heard it go right by and hit something behind us."
That ended the employee pursuit, and officers responding to Norton's 911 call just seconds later turned up nothing.
"Yeah, I'm just assuming they've been in here before," says shop owner Parker.
The boss suspects the hold-up men are past customers -- but only a sliver of face was visible through the hoodies and hats.
So, he hopes they'll run their mouths.
"Maybe they're bragging about it," says Parker. "And then maybe someone will speak up and call Dover PD."
Police are hoping he's right, amid concern about what the thugs' next shot might hit.
