Arbitrator Rules Boston Police Officers Deserve 25.4% Pay Raise

BOSTON (CBS) - An arbitrator has ruled that Boston police officers should receive a 25.4 percent pay increase over the next six years, the city confirmed Friday night. The contract would be retroactive dating back to July 2010.

According to a spokesperson for Mayor Menino, the city's final arbitration offer was 19.8 percent over the six-year period.

The Mayor's office has to submit the deal to the City Council within thirty days, and the City Council would need to approve the package for it to take effect. The plan would cost the city about $80 million.
