Apple Enthusiasts Underwhelmed By New iPhone 4S
BOSTON (CBS) - The new iPhone is underwhelming some local Apple enthusiasts. At Raizlabs in Brookline, employees set up an office pool before the big announcement. App developer Gregory Raiz points to a graph on a dry-erase board. "We bet on iPhone features," he explains.
"I was rooting for the iPhone 5," explains his employee Ben Johnson.
There were high hopes for big changes. Instead of an iPhone 5, Apple's new CEO Tim Cook unveiled the new iPhone 4S. It's designed to be thinner and faster. It boasts a better camera and a new voice command.
WBZ-TV's Christina Hager reports
"Some of us were hoping it was something that was going to be more significant," says Raiz, who does not plan to turn in his iPhone 4. "The iPhone 4S is not an I-need-to-have-it."
At the Apple store on Boylston Street, shoppers had mixed reviews.
"It's only natural to want what's better and new," said one customer who plans to check it out when the new phone hits shelves later this month. Others see potential bargains.
"I've actually been contemplating getting an iPhone 4 once the price drops," says another shopper.
The iPhone 4S starts at $200.00.
