Another Mild One
Yesterday was a beauty of a December day as highs came very close to 60F in many cities and towns! Temperatures will rise into the 50s again today before a cold front slams into New England and drags temperatures down into the 40s.
There is some patchy dense fog this morning so please drive slowly and carefully. As a front travels northward this morning, there may be a sprinkle or two in southern NH and our suburbs northwest of 495. The remainder of the day will be mostly cloudy with highs in the middle to upper 50s. Southern NH will be slightly cooler in the 50-55F range.
After midnight tonight, showers will arrive. These showers will exit offshore on Wednesday morning. This precipitation will be due to a cold front. Once it moves east of the area, skies will slowly clear out, and the northwest wind will become more active. Wednesday highs in the lower 50s will be met early in the day before cold air advection takes hold in the afternoon. Temperatures will fall into the 40s by the evening commute.
Thursday will be bright but cooler. High temperatures will be closer to average in the lower 40s.
Friday will be sunny with more clouds filling in during the afternoon and evening. High temps will be in the upper 40s.
This weekend is looking unsettled as a frontal boundary will be bobbing back and forth near New England. There will be a chance for showers on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. It is looking like a rain event, but it's going to depend which side of the front we are located. This will determine whether or not there is the chance of a rain/snow mix and/or cold air damming. At the moment, it seems that the best chance of getting this wintry mix will be north and west of Boston from Sunday evening into Monday morning.
