Another Huge Game For Welker In Miami
BOSTON (CBS) - Wes Welker enjoyed a few good afternoons in Miami as a member of the Dolphins.
But nothing compares to his afternoons in Miami as a member of the New England Patriots.
Welker continued his dominance of his old team on Sunday, hauling in 12 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown in New England's 23-16 win over the Dolphins.
Welker, who the Patriots acquired from Miami in 2007 for a second and seventh round pick, knew he was in for a bigger role when he first donned a Patriots uniform. But he never could have predicted what he's done in his six years in New England.
"Obviously not like this. I knew I'd have a bigger role, and I just try to take advantage of it," Welker said following the division-clinching win. "My goal is to play hard every single play; try to make plays and help my team win."

With Sunday's performance, Welker now leads the NFL with 92 receptions. It was his 17th career 10-plus catch game, tying Jerry Rice for the most in NFL history, and his his 16th career 10-catch, 100-yard game -- a new NFL record.
Welker's teammates had high praise for the receiver after Sunday's win.
"He's an unbelievable teammate, player, friend and nothing he does ever surprises me. He expects the best out of himself every single day," quarterback Tom Brady said of his favorite target. "What he brings to practice, that's what he brings to the games. We couldn't be in this situation without him. I'm glad he's on our team, not the Dolphins."

"His numbers speak for themselves. He makes plays, he always gets open, and he's definitely someone I look up to," said third-year tight end Aaron Hernandez. "Wes is one to watch because he does it the right way. His performance every week shows what he can do. Why not look after someone like that?"
