Another Beauty...
No natural disasters today...yet. In fact, today was a beauty and we are in the middle of a fine Autumn stretch. High pressure is draped up and down the East Coast...this will lead to another chilly night and lots of sunshine again tomorrow. There is a chance that some will need the scrapers for the car windshield again tomorrow morning but a thin veil of high clouds should provide some protection and prevent temps from dipping as low as last night. High pressure will slide offshore during the day tomorrow and southerly winds will pick up escorting milder air into the region...after spending all day in the 50s, highs will range from 60-65 tomorrow afternoon.
It all goes downhill on Friday as another slow-moving cut-off storm system will work out of the Great Lakes and into the Northeast. Out ahead of it, a ribbon of heavy showers with connections to the deep south will slide from west to east across the State on Friday reaching Eastern MA in the afternoon and evening. With the southern connection, heavy downpours are expected for Friday evening. The front and ribbon of downpours will shift offshore by Saturday morning but along the front upper level energy will likely induce the spin-up of an area of low pressure just offshore along the front. This will provide, mostly Eastern MA, with another round of wet weather Saturday morning. By afternoon the wave will move north ending the steadier rain showers and partial clearing will work in on westerly winds. A secondary coldfront will pass through in the evening...the leading edge of chilly air for Sunday...and may kick off another scattered shower.
Sunday looks pretty good. NW flow will bring in dry but chilly air...highs will be around 60 but the wind will make it feel colder than that. There will also be a shortwave passing overhead and this will create daytime cumulus cloud formation...we'll call it a mix of sun and clouds.
