Amtrak Suing Owners Of Truck In Deadly Downeaster Crash
SOMERVILLE (CBS) - Amtrak is suing a Somerville company that owned a truck involved in a deadly train crash last month.
The Triumvirate Environmental Inc. truck was in a railroad crossing in North Berwick, Maine, when the Downeaster passenger train struck it.
Amtrak claims the truck driver ignored railroad crossing signs and other warnings.
That truck driver, 35-year-old Peter Barnum of Farmington, N.H., was killed in the fiery collision. He was hauling more than 20 tons of garbage to a regional waste incinerator.
Four passengers on the train had minor injuries.
