Paris Man Arraigned After Flight Diverted To Boston
BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Police in Massachusetts say a man from France has been arrested after causing a disturbance on a Miami-to-Paris flight.
A spokesman for state police says American Airlines Flight 62 was diverted to Boston's Logan International Airport on Wednesday night after a passenger became unruly.
Police say 61-year-old Edmund Alexandre, of Paris, France, was charged with interfering with a flight crew.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office said the incident began when the passenger in front of Alexandre reclined her seat. When a member of the flight crew tried to calm him down, Alexandre allegedly followed the man down the aisle and grabbed him by the arm.
While the plane descended into Boston, a federal Air Marshal handcuffed Alexandre. He was arrested by state police once the plane landed at about 10 p.m.
He was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital for observation and treatment of a pre-existing medical condition.
Alexandre was arraigned from Mass General on Thursday and released on personal recognizance, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. Prosecutors had requested Alexandre be held on $500 bail.
