3-Month-Old Girl And Mother From Westfield Found In Virginia
BOSTON (CBS) - State police have found the Westfield woman who had taken her three-month-old daughter, in Virginia.
State Police say the child was unharmed and in a carseat when they pulled the truck over.
Authorities say Cheryl Kozaczek, 28, left the family's home in Westfield at 1 a.m. Wednesday with her three-month-old daughter Gaebria in a gray 2004 Toyota Tacoma pick up truck with Massachusetts plate 85ZH15.
Kozaczek was arrested on Route 95 in Waverly, V.A. She has been charged with kidnapping and other charges will be forthcoming, Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said.
Authorities had been tracing her cell phone before she was stopped. Virginia State Police Sgt. Ron Posey says Cheryl was very co-operative during the traffic stop.
Kozaczek's mother is the legal guardian of the child.
Her father told WBZ-TV his daughter has "emotional issues" and "would never hurt her child."
According to him, Cheryl Kozaczek was due to have a custody hearing with the state Wednesday, but took off.
