Amazon Giving Refunds To Parents Whose Kids Made Purchases Without Permission

SEATTLE (CBS) -- If your child has ever bought something on an app without your permission - you may be in luck.

Amazon is now offering refunds to customers for in-app purchases - like upgrades for mobile games - made by children without their parents' OK.

The Federal Trade Commission says emails have gone out to eligible consumers. The policy covers $70 million in charges between Nov. 2011 and May 2016.

Anyone who thinks they might be eligible for a refund but didn't get an email can go to this link to double check.

Refund requests can be submitted up until May 28, 2018.

Anyone with questions can call Amazon at 866-216-1072.
