Amazing Weather Overall...But What About The 4th?
The good news is we are looking at just an amazing stretch of summer weather to enjoy...with no real intense heat or humidity for any long duration. Considering what much of the nation is experiencing we are living the good life! What a morning out there! Sunshine, low humidity with temps early in the morning in the Lwr 60's. Refreshing! Temps will be warming up this afternoon inland climbing into the mid 80's for most areas, even nearing 90 in western New England. Weak high pressure will make for wall to wall sunshine through the day with light NW winds. A sea breeze will likely develop at the coast this afternoon to cool temps from the lwr 80's back into the 70's for the second half of the day.
We will have to watch a complex of thunderstorms over the Great Lakes which will be steered towards New England with a NW flow aloft during the overnight hours. Clouds will be on the increase after midnight, with a weakening batch of showers and thunderstorms, which should be arriving after 3 AM towards dawn on Wednesday. So the 4th of July will likely get off to a cloudy, damp start. These showers will be in advance of a warm front which will push through and off the coast by midday.
Once this front pushes off the coast, there is a chance for some partial sun to emerge during the midday- afternoon with a developing SW wind which will be able to push temps into the Lwr-mid 80's. With a cold front approaching later in the day, this will likely trigger a few more scattered showers or thunderstorms later in the day into the early evening..and maybe even a few strong or severe storms. If clouds hold, it will be a bit cooler in the 70's, but it will also be a bit more stable...with less of a chance for afternoon storms to pop. It is a real tough call how this will all play out...but some unsettled weather will be incoming on the fourth...especially early and late. It will not be raining the whole time, but a few of these showers may come with a brief downpour. The front will push off the coast during the evening with a wind shift, so I expect skies to become partly cloudy just in time for the fireworks on the Esplanade and temps in the mid 70's
Any humidity will be pushed away for another great day Thursday with drier air and warming temps as high pressure slides in from the midwest. Bright sunshine will be the rule heading into the weekend as temps will climb from the mid 80's on Thursday to near 90 on Friday. By Saturday, highs will heat up to 90-95 degrees with the air starting to feel a bit more humid. A cold front will approach late in the day which may spark a late day shower or thunderstorm, but behind this...less humid air returns once again with more comfortable conditions and temps in the Lwr -mid 80's by Sunday with sun and clouds.
An upper Low sitting just east of Hudson bay will become our main weather feature for the week after. It will promote a trough in the Northeast, suppressing any heat away from New England, yet also spinning in pieces of energy which will provide just enough lift with fronts for periodic showers or thunderstorms. I expect the time period of July 9-18th to average a little bit below normal because of these conditions.
