All Things Travel: Emirates Airlines To Start Flying From Boston To Dubai
BOSTON (CBS) - Massachusetts will get its third new international route airline in the last 12 months with the announcement Thursday that Emirates Airlines will start flying from Boston to Dubai on March 10th of next year.
The new service to the Middle East coincides with the announcement that Turkish Airlines will begin flights from Logan Airport, beginning in May 2014.
Copa Airlines also began service to Panama and South America last spring.
Emirates will use Boeing 777-200LR aircraft for the route with three classes of service and 266 seats.
The flight will depart Boston at 10:55 p.m. and arrive nonstop in Dubai at 7:10 p.m. the next day. The return flight will leave Dubai daily at 9:45 a.m.
Emirates offers more than 200 aircraft to 134 destinations in their system. Emirates also has the world's largest fleet of A380 Boeing aircraft.
"Our new partnership with Emirates helps expand the global reach of Boston and Logan by connecting New England with new markets" said Thomas P. Glynn, Massport's CEO.
In 2012, more than 331,000 passengers spent more than $295 million in ticket sales to markets served by Emirates.
