Albert Breer On Gresh & Zo: 3 Reasons Why The Jets Are Dangerous

BOSTON (CBS) - The Patriots are on a roll.

They've won 9 of their last 10 games, and on Sunday afternoon they'll make a short trip down I-95 to take on the 3-11, last place New York Jets.

Most Patriots fans (and I'm sure some Jets fans too) are expecting New England to just waltz down to the Meadowlands and put away the J-E-T-S with relative ease.

But the football realist knows this game will not be an easy one for the AFC East Champion Patriots.

Why? Just ask Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

"The Jets are playing well. They're a very competitive football team. They're in every game," Belichick said during Wednesday's press conference. "They've been in a lot of tight games; it seems like every game comes down to the last possession, kind of like it did with us, like a lot of our games with them have in the last, four of the last five times we've played them."

The last four times the two teams have played, the games have been decided by three points or less, with two of those contests stretching into overtime.

Belichick knows his team needs to give a better effort in this second meeting.

"This will be a big week for us. I think we need to play better than we did the last time we played them. I just don't think that will be good enough; [it] barely was good enough last time, I don't think it will be good enough this time."

For a team hoping to earn a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Patriots can ill-afford a slip up on Sunday.

On Wednesday morning to open their show, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak, alongside the NFL Network's Albert Breer down at CBS Scene in Foxboro, outlined 3 reasons why the Jets are a threat to New England.

1. Pride

This is a heated rivalry, and division games are always nail biters.

"This is a chance for those Jets players to be defiant and send a message that they belong," said Albert Breer.

2. The Ryan Factor

In all likelihood, this is the last time the Patriots and a Rex Ryan-coached Jets team will square off. Ryan is on the hot seat down there, and he's only got so many chances left to prove he can be a head coach in the NFL.

"This is a chance for those Jets players to prove they love their coach, and I expect Rex Ryan to empty the barrel on the Patriots," said Breer.

"This is going to be a dog fight at halftime," added Scott Zolak. "Rex is a guy that that Jets team plays for. That's a guy who has come into our building and beaten us, not only during the regular season over the years, but the playoffs as well. They're going to play for him, and Rex knows how to rally the troops."

3.  Résumé Building

"Everyone in that building is playing for jobs. This is an audition. Rex Ryan wants to be a head coach in 2015 -- it won't be for New York. This game will amount to a résumé tape for [Falcons owner] Arthur Blank, and maybe [49ers owner] Jed York," said Albert Breer.

"Rex is going to remind those guys that we're all playing for our careers this week. Say you're a free agent -- the pro director for another team, the first tape he's going to pop on is the tape against the New England Patriots."
